(BOWIE, Md.) The Lady Bulldogs tennis team made quick work of Division I Coppin State, shutting out the Lady Eagles 9-0. With the win, Bowie State improves its record to 8-9 on the year.
Today's match not only marked the first and only home match of the season for Bowie State, it also maked the final home appearance for seniors
Kyara Lombre (Mitchellville, MD, C.H. Flowers) and
Chelyce Fields (Suitland, MD, Suitland).
Lombre and Fields won their #1 and #2 Singles matches by scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 respectively.
Freshman
Iyabode Sodipo (Baltimore, MD, Chesapeake) won #3 Singles 6-1, 6-1 over Hafsatu Kamara and sophomore
Iyabode Sodipo (Baltimore, MD, Chesapeake) took #4 Singles 6-0, 6-0 over Courtney Clark.
Bowie State freshman
Kassandra Bishop (Spencerville, MD, James Hubert Blake) rolled to an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory over Coppin State's Brittany Wagner at #5 Singles.
Coppin State (0-16) came into the match shorthanded and had to default #6 Singles and #3 Doubles.
The senior duo of Lombre and Fields cruised in the #1 Doubles, defeating Lauretta Mukam and Jennifer Mitchell 8-1.
Freshman
Rebekah Cabaltica (Upper Marlboro, MD, Riverdale Baptist) teamed up with Hamilton and blanked the Lady Eagles combo of Kamara and Clark 8-0.
Bowie State closes out the regular season in third place of the CIAA Northern Division.
