TENNIS TAKES DOWN MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE 6-3

(BOWIE, Md.)  Bowie State University began the cool and breezy afternoon winning two of the three doubles matches and went on to defeat Division I University of Maryland Eastern Shore by an overall score of 6-3.

Solana McMillan and Shamara McKenzie of UMES won No. 1 doubles 8-1 over the VSU duo of Iyabode Sodipo and Kassandra Bishop.  Bowie State's Samantha Williams and Amanda Hamilton captured the victory at No. 2 doubles, winning by a score of 8-2 over Arshelle Simmons and Enjoli Simmons.  The Lady Bulldogs' Channae Manning and Rebekah Cabaltica were victorious at No. 3 doubles, claiming a 6-3 win over Anna Katena and Raveena Sharma.

Bowie State sealed the overall match winning No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.  Williams defeated McKenzie 4-6, 6-3 and 6-0 at No.1 and Hamilton downed Simmons 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 at No. 4 Singles.  BSU's Manning beat Katenta 6-1, 7-5 and Cabaltica cruised past UMES' Sharma 7-5, 6-2.

McMillan blanked Bowie State's Sodipo 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 Singles and Jackson topped Bishop at No. 3 Singles 7-5, 6-3.

With the victory, Bowie State moves their record to 4-13 overall while the University of Maryland Eastern Shore falls to 1-16 overall.

Bowie State will close out their season on Sunday (April 15), hosting Elizabeth City State University at 3 pm.
