RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia Union University swept through the women's singles and won two of three doubles matches to defeat Bowie State 8-1. The loss sets the Lady Bulldogs early season record at 1-2.

The Bowie State duo of junior Kassandra Bishop (Spencerville, Md.) and freshman Antonique (Laurel, Md.) claimed the only victory of the afternoon, winning 9-8. The eight-game pro set match was tied at 8-8 before Bishop and Johnson won the tie breaker 9-7.

The Lady Bulldogs will be right back on the courts Sunday (3/10) morning facing the Lady Trojans of Virginia State.
