LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - Bowie State Lady Bulldogs tennis rolled to a 7-0 shutout of Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. The win improves BSU's record to 7-10 overall and 7-9 in the CIAA.
The Lady Bulldogs began the CIAA Northern Division match with juniors
Iyabode Sodipo (Baltimore, Md.) and
Brianna Burke (Boston, Mass.) claiming an 8-1 decision over Shari Davis and Sharmain Henderson at No. 1 Doubles. Senior
Kassandra Bishop (Spencerville, Md.) and freshman
Antonique Johnson (Laurel, Md.) defeated the Lady Lions duo of Haley Hendricks and Urszula Koczkodoj by a score of 9-7 at No. 2 Doubles.
Bowie State had no trouble in singles competition either but No. 3 Singles was the most exciting match of the day. BSU's
Antonique Johnson and LUPA's Haley Hendricks battled to a 6-6 deadlock in set one requiring a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, Johnson won by a score of 7-4 and went on to take the second set by a score of 6-2.
The Lady Bulldogs close out the regular season portion of their schedule on Sunday (April 14th) on the road at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore beginning at 11 am.
