BOWIE, Md. - The Chowan University women's tennis team topped Bowie State University 9-0 on Saturday morning in CIAA Northern Division play. The Lady Bulldogs slip to 6-7 overall and 6-6 in conference play with the setback. The Hawks improve to 17-6 on the year and remain perfect in CIAA play with a 13-0 league record. Â

In singles play, Kamenshchikova breezed through the match in the number one position defeating Peters 6-0, 6-0. At the number two position, Novachuk had a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Smothers, while Smolchenkova earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Johnson in the number three spot. De Backre handed Manning a 6-3, 6-1 loss in the fourth spot. Andrade topped Habtemariam 6-0, 6-0 while Humphrey earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Slaughter in the sixth position.
