BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie State University women's tennis team was swept, 9-0 by the University of the District of Columbia on Sunday afternoon at the BSU Tennis Courts. Prior to the match, three Bowie State seniors (Rahwa Habtemariam, Antonique Johnson and Amber Peters) were honored in a special Senior Day presentation. PHOTOS

Bowie State senior Amber Peters (Lanham, Md.) and sophomore Dainese Smothers (Washington, D.C.) retired to UDC's Dominika Hadnadova and Alena Skobkina at No. 1 doubles to begin the afternoon. Mona Looareesuan and Zoe Mall defeated Lady Bulldogs senior Antonique Johnson (Laurel, Md.) and Sharaya Dunwell (Silver Spring, Md.) 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. Bowie State senior Rahwa Habtemariam (Lanham, Md.) and freshman Madeleine Ndema (Lanham, Md.) lost their No. 3 doubles match (8-1) to Laura Rojas and Laura Dimante.
 
The University of D.C. swept the singles as well to earn the 9-0 victory.
 
The Lady Bulldogs will host Virginia State University for its home finale on Friday (4/22) at 2 p.m. on the Bowie State campus courts.
