MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Bowie State University women's tennis team continues to put forth tremendous effort on Sunday (4/9) but shutout 9-0, 9-0 in a conference doubleheader at Chowan University.

In the first match of the day, Cynthia Carrier and Angelique defeated Bowie State's
Dainese Smothers (Washington, D.C.) and
Kamari Eason (Oxon Hill, Md.) 8-0 in number one doubles play. Natalia Andrade and Franca Pacelli beat BSU's
Kionza Allen (Laurel, Md.) and
Jocelyn Williams (Washington, D.C.) 8-0 in the number two doubles match while Roxana Daneshjoo and Anna Makhneva earned a win in number three doubles by a forfeit from Bowie State.
Holding a 3-0 lead heading into singles play, the Hawks continued to dominate as each player in the lineup picked up a victory. Polina Novachuk, Victoria Smolchenkova, Carrier, Gouin, Daneshjoo and Makhneva topped their opponents in singles play to contribute to the 9-0 win.
In the second match of the afternoon, Novachuk and Smolchenkova won the number one doubles play over Smothers and Eason 8-0. Carrier and Gouin grabbed the number two doubles over Allen and Williams. Andrade and Pacelli earned the third doubles match by a forfeit from the Bulldogs.
In singles competition, the Hawks continued to build on the momentum and swept the Lady Bulldogs to easily secure the 9-0 win.
