Bulldogs Fall 4-3 at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Bowie State women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-3 match at Frostburg State Wednesday afternoon. The loss dips the Bulldogs to 1-1 overall while the Bobcats improve to 2-1.

Frostburg State swept the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead over Bowie State early on.

In singles competition, FSU went ahead 3-0 after capturing two wins at the No. 6 and 5 positions. However, the Bulldogs punched the scorecard with a 6-2, 6-2 victory from freshman Kayla Lowery (Cleveland, OH) No. 2 slot but the Bobcats tallied its fourth point on a 6-4,6-2 win at the No. 3 singles for the win.

Bowie State concluded the match with wins from sophomores Tamia Byrom (Upper Marlboro, MD) and Afruica Gentle (Goergetown, Guyana) both in three sets.

BSU will return to action Friday, Mar. 18 and Saturday, Mar. 19 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) round-up hosted by Bowie State. The Bulldogs will face Johnson C. Smith and Livingstone on Friday at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., followed by meeting with Winston-Salem State and Shaw on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. All matches will be played at the BSU tennis courts.
