Box Score RICHMOND, Va. – The Bowie State women's tennis team got back into the win column Saturday with a 4-0 win at Virginia Union. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the Northern Division while the Lady Panthers drop to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the North.
Bowie State claimed three straight doubles (8-0, 8-7, 8-4) before earning straight sets in singles competition that included a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 1 singles by sophomore Afruica Gentle (Georgetown, Guyana). Freshman Kayla Lowery (Cleveland, OH) picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 2 singles, followed by a 6-1, 6-1 victory for sophomore Tamia Byrom (Upper Marlboro, MD).
The Bulldogs will return to action on Apr. 2 versus Elizabeth City State in Bowie, Md. First serve is slated for 12 noon.
