BOWIE, Md. – After nearly two weeks off from competition due to postponements, the Bowie State women's tennis team will travel to Washington, D.C. to face Trinity (DC) on Thursday, Apr. 21 at 3 p.m.
The Bulldogs (6-3) are on a three-match win-streak, coming off a pair of wins against Elizabeth City State on Apr. 2. Bowie State is 2-1 on the road this season and 1-1 against non-conference matches in 2022.
Bowie State is led by sophomore Afruica Gentle (Germantown, Guyana) who is 5-0 against opponents at the No. 1 singles position while sophomore Tamia Byrom (Upper Marlboro, MD) is 6-1 at the No. 4 position. In doubles play, Byrom and partner freshman Aria Mason (Canton, MI) are 5-3 on the year, having won their last three competitions while Gentle and partner freshman Kayla Lowery (Cleveland, OH) are 5-1, currently riding a five-set win-streak.
Thursday's meeting between Bowie State and Trinity will be fourth as the Bulldogs are 3-0 against the Tigers all-time. Trinity (DC) is an independent member of the NCAA Division III.
Following Thursday's competition, Bowie State will return to action for senior day on Saturday, Apr. 23 against Virginia Union. First serve is slated for 12 noon.
