Head coach Ed Powell is set to begin his third season at the helm of the Bulldogs program when BSU travels to the HBCU Classic. With over 20 wins last season, a program first since 2017, the veteran head coach now eyes another division championship after the Black and Gold claimed the Northern Division CIAA title in 2022. Bowie State eyes its first conference championship since 2009.
In 2022, BSU captured the division title after turning in an 11-5 record against conference opponents. Overall, the Bulldogs finished the year 25-20-1.
Bowie State was projected to win the division title and finish second overall according to the conference preseason poll. Two Bulldogs were selected to the CIAA All-Preseason Team featuring senior Shanya Gordon and sophomore Kayla Evans. BSU return 14 players from a season ago and welcome seven newcomers.
