BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State women's tennis team begin the 2023 season on Saturday, Mar. 4 when the Bulldogs host the visiting Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State. The contest also serves as a conference match that is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. from the BSU Tennis Complex.
The Bulldogs 2023 slate features 14 matches including 2-of-3 matches against non-conference opponents.
Seven players return from last year's squad that recorded a program record most wins at 11-4 overall and a Northern Division title for the first time in program history. In 2022, the Bulldogs had reached the conference semifinals – a program first led behind reigning CIAA Player of the Year in Afruica Gentle (Georgetown, Guyana) and two additional All-CIAA honorees in Tamia Byrom (Upper Marlboro, MD) and Kayla Lowery (Cleveland, OH).
The Bulldogs welcome one newcomer in Abner Dixon, a top transfer from Livingstone.
Following Saturday's competition, the Bulldogs will travel to Virginia State on Saturday, Mar. 11 for a conference matchup with the Trojans at 11 a.m.
