CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Bowie State's
Elijah Davis has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week announced by the league office Monday.
The award is Davis' first on the season and the program's third honor on the season.
The Severn, Md., was a menace on defense for the Bulldogs in the past three games. Davis tallied 34 total points, ten rebounds, 13 steals, and two blocks. Davis' best game defensively was against UDC, where he totaled a season-high five steals. The CIAA leader in steals (2.8 steals per game) looks to be a disruptive force all season long.
Following Tuesday's tilt at Goldey-Beacom, Bowie State (6-5, 0-1 CIAA) will take a week off before heading to the Tar Heel State for a CIAA matchup against Livingstone College on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. from New Trent Gym in Salsbury, NC. The Bulldogs are 14-12 all-time against the Blue Bears, and this will be their first meeting since 2011, when BSU won 84-78 back in Bowie, Md.
