RICHMOND, VA --- The Bowie State women's bowling team battled through Southern Division opponents to finish 10-2 overall at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up, finishing with a 33-3 mark overall on the year and in conference play. The round-up was a three-day event held on Feb. 23-25 in Midlothian, Va.
How It Happened
The Bulldogs faced Shaw in the opening game, defeating the Lady Bears 812-651 with
Jessica Watts leading the way with a 192 game. BSU rolled over Livingstone in game two (808-604) as Tavera Johnson spun a game-high 196. Against the defending conference champions, the Bulldogs fell short by, surrendering a 722-712 decision to Fayetteville State but was able to close out day one with a 834-647 frame over Johnson C. Smith to conclude the day 3-1 highlighted by
Chalia Gray's 200-game (202) against the Golden Bulls.
Bowie State turned in a 3-1 record on Saturday, with its only loss to the Lady Broncos of FSU (796-890) during game two. The Bulldogs took commanding victories over JCSU (772-654), LC (771-698) and SU (740-654).
On the final day which featured the Baker's, the Bulldogs peeled off a 4-0 mark defeating the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith (759-620), snapping a losing skid against the Lady Broncos of FSU (914-870) which included a 200-game from Watts. Meanwhile BSU's momentum continued to groom as the Bulldogs downed Livingstone (790-635) and Shaw (844-686).
