RICHMOND, VA — Bowie State women's bowlers, sophomore Arianna Clayton and senior Jessica Watts, earned All-CIAA honors, announced Thursday evening at the CIAA Women's Bowling Championship banquet on the campus of Virginia Union University. These mark the first All-CIAA selections for head coach Tubar Thompson during his tenure with the Bulldogs.
Clayton finished eighth in the conference with a 176.60 average, while Watts ranked 10th with a 164.97 average, highlighting a strong season for the Bulldogs' duo.
Clayton led BSU with consistent performances throughout the year, turning in several standout games. She opened with a 211 at CIAA North/South Event I in Chester, Va., and later recorded a 226 at the Coppin State Invitational. Clayton continued her momentum at the Garden State Classic, pacing the Bulldogs with a high game of 228.
At CIAA North/South Event II, Watts led Bowie State on day one with a 199, followed by Clayton's team-best 200 on day two. The pair carried that success into the CIAA Round-Up, where both posted matching high games of 191 on the first day. Clayton followed with a dominant showing on day two, delivering a season-high 266.
To close the regular season, Clayton led the Bulldogs to a 7-5 mark at CIAA North/South Event III, finishing with a weekend-best 222.
The Bulldogs look to make a statement and reclaim their spot atop the CIAA at the 2026 CIAA Women's Bowling Championship. Bowie State enters the tournament as the No. 4, set for Friday, Mar. 20 through Sunday, Mar. 22 at Bowlero Bowling in Mechanicsville, Va.
