Bowie State opened the 2026–27 season at the Virginia Union Invitational, competing against a competitive field featuring several nationally recognized programs, including Florida A&M, Texas Southern, Grambling State, Howard, and Coppin State.
The Bulldogs finished the three-day tournament with a 1–12 overall record, earning their lone victory of the weekend against Virginia State. Despite the challenging opening tournament, Bowie State gained valuable experience against a diverse field of opponents as the team continues to develop early-season consistency.
The Virginia Union Invitational provided the Bulldogs with an opportunity to evaluate their performance across multiple matchups and prepare for the conference competition ahead. BSU will look to carry those lessons into CIAA Event I, where conference standings and early-season momentum begin to take shape.
The Bulldogs enter the season with expectations following a strong 2025–26 campaign, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the CIAA Women's Bowling Championship. The Bulldogs were selected second in the 2026–27 CIAA Preseason Predicted Order of Finish, while junior, Arianna Clayton earned Preseason All-CIAA recognition. Clayton also received All-CIAA honors last season after finishing among the conference's top individual bowlers.
