Bulldogs Finish 9-1 at CIAA Round Up

FAYETTEVILLE, NC -- The Bowie State University women's bowling team competed in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round Up, hosted by Fayetteville State University this past weekend at B&B Lanes. The Bulldogs posted a 9-1 mark during the three-day event to improve to 31-12 overall and (30-3 CIAA).

How It Happened
During opening day, the Bulldogs orchestrated a strong 4-1 record, securing victories over Johnson C. Smith twice (843-587, 889-581), Livingstone (763-669), and Shaw (933-817). BSU's only setback came in a close 892-923 loss to Fayetteville State. Despite the defeat, TaVera Johnson delivered an impressive 236-game in the matchup against the Lady Broncos. 

On Day 2, Bowie State started with a traditional match before dominating in four consecutive Baker games. They secured a 994-904 victory over Fayetteville State, overwhelmed Shaw with a 996-690 win, and dominated the Golden Bulls 849-490, highlighted by Kamryn Smith's impressive 195-game. They capped off the weekend with a 768-732 win against Livingstone, finishing on a high note.

Bowie State also brought home some accolades, with Johnson earning the Northern Division Highest Average award and freshman Arianna Clayton receiving the Northern Division Newcomer Highest Average honor.

Bowie State will be back on their home turf as they host the CIAA Event III from Friday, March 14 through Sunday, March 16 at the Crofton Bowling Centre in Crofton, Md.
