BLUEFIELD, W.V. --- The Bowie State University women's tennis team (2-8, 0-7 CIAA, 0-6 North) fell short in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference doubleheader against Bluefield State on Saturday, Apr. 5 at the Lotito City Park in Bluefield, W.V.

Game One – Bluefield State 4, Bowie State 0
In doubles play, Torrienne Emery and Kayla Lowery put up a strong effort but were defeated 6-0. Nakari Blunt and Verneice Herndon engaged in a tightly contested match but ultimately fell short, 4-3, against B-State.

In singles competition, Emery competed in the top spot but came up short, falling 6-2, 2-0. Lowery fought hard at No. 2 but was edged out 6-2, 1-0. At No. 3, Blunt was unable to overcome her opponent, dropping the match 6-0, 6-0. Herndon rounded out the lineup at No. 4, taking a 6-0, 3-0 loss.

Bluefield State secured additional points by default in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions.

Game Two – Bluefield State 4, Bowie State 0
In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs continued to battle but couldn't overcome a strong effort from Bluefield State.

In doubles competition, Emery and Lowery fought hard but were defeated 6-0. The pair of Blunt and Herndon showed flashes of rhythm in a competitive outing but came up short, 6-1.

During singles competition, Emery took the court at the No. 1 position and fought through a tough matchup before falling 6-1, 6-3. At No. 2, Lowery remained competitive throughout, but her opponent held the edge in a 6-1, 6-4 decision. Blunt, playing at No. 3, was challenged throughout her match and came up short, 6-2, 6-2. Herndon, lineup at No. 4 and battled hard before falling 6-2, 6-1.

Bluefield State was also awarded victories by default at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions.
