WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Bowie State men's and women's track and field team turned in a productive day at the Bison Invitational, hosted by Gallaudet University on Saturday, highlighted by event wins, personal bests and several podium finishes. The Bowie State women placed third overall, while the men finished fourth.
The Bulldogs opened with a strong performance in the 4x100-meter relay, placing second with a season-best time of 48.24.
On the track,
Dominic Boston led the men's sprint group with a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash (50.79). In the 110-meter hurdles, Lavelle Hubbard placed fourth (15.34), followed closely by
Tavon Williams in fifth (15.37). Hubbard later added a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 57.63.
The women's 100-meter dash proved to be a highlight for BSU, as
Sidney Richardson won the event in 12.02, while
Kelys Walker secured second in 12.20.
Anijah Medley finished seventh (12.56). Walker also added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a season-best 25.28.
In the hurdles,
Emetem Bezezuh recorded a personal-best 1:05.45 to place third in the 400-meter hurdles. Medley contributed in the field events as well, finishing third in the high jump (1.35 meters).
Bowie State found success in the jumps, led by
Rebecca Bogy, who won the long jump with a mark of 5.56 meters.
Abigail Mokosso followed with a fourth-place finish (5.25m).
In the throws,
Tatiyana Black captured the discus title with a personal-best throw of 38.56 meters, while
Breanna Reid placed third (37.09m). Black also added a fifth-place finish in both the hammer throw (39.76m) and shot put (11.42m).
Jazmyne McGirt finished third in the shot put with a mark of 11.93 meters.
On the men's side,
Jaeden Warner led the field events with a dominant win in the shot put (16.11m, personal best) and added another victory in the discus (45.02m). Khalil Brooks placed third in the shot put with a season-best 13.57 meters, while
Brandon Freeman finished fourth (13.10m) and took second in the discus (41.32m).

The Bulldogs will return to action next week at the Virginia Challenge, hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., from Friday, Apr. 17 through Saturday, Apr. 18.
