BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State women's tennis team (0–11, 0–10 CIAA, 0–6 North) hits the road Tuesday, Apr. 7, for a nonconference doubleheader against Trinity Washington University. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Washington, D.C.

Scouting Bowie State
Nakari Blunt leads the lineup at No. 1 singles, consistently facing top competition, while
Verneice Herndon anchors the No. 2 spot.
Payton Swinton has been one of Bowie State's most productive players, accounting for two of the team's singles wins this season and providing stability in the middle of the lineup.
Asia Johnson adds depth at No. 4, with
Mil'lanni Marte and
Daisy Pentorn rounding out the lower courts.
In doubles, the tandem of Blunt and Swinton has shown the most consistency. However, the Bulldogs have struggled to secure the doubles point, placing added pressure on singles play. Bowie State continues to build chemistry and consistency across the lineup.
Last Time Out for the Bulldogs
Bowie State fell 7–0 to Elizabeth City State in its most recent outing, as the Lady Vikings swept all three doubles matches to claim the opening point.
Blunt and Swinton dropped a 5–1 decision at No. 1 doubles, while Johnson and Herndon fell 6–0 at No. 2. Marte and Pentorn were defeated 6–1 at No. 3.
In singles, ECSU maintained control, winning all six matches in straight sets. Blunt fell 6–0, 6–1 at No. 1, while Herndon lost 6–1, 6–0 at No. 2. Swinton, Johnson and Marte each dropped 6–1, 6–0 decisions at Nos. 3–5, and Pentorn fell 6–0, 6–0 at No. 6.
