WOMEN'S RESULTS

(CARY, NC) Virginia State tied Saint Augustine's for the CIAA Cross Country title at the 2008 CIAA Cross Country Championships at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Bowie State Lady Bulldogs placed fourth overall with a total score of 120 points.
In the women's race, Saint Augustine's and Virginia State both scored 39 points and Shaw finished third with 103 points. The women's champion was declared a tie according to the NCAA Rulebook which states that ties in team scoring shall not be broken except for advancement to the championship finals which is referring to the NCAA Regionals, the qualifying round to the NCAA Championships.
Sophomore
Shamika Patton (Frederick, MD, Frederick) came in 6th place with a time of 21.45.6. Freshman
Michelle Palmer (Oxon Hill, MD, Oxon Hill) was 11th overall (21.57.9),
Elaine Rhoades placed 32nd (24.21.8), followed by senior
Tonya Walton (Indian Head, MD, Lackey) in 35th position (24.39.4), sophomore
Christina Rowles (Oxon Hill, MD, Oxon Hill) (36th - 24.46.2) and freshman
Angelique Henderson (Largo) (39th - 25.00.4).
The All-CIAA teams, which consist of the top 10 finishers in each race, were announced during the awards ceremony. The All-CIAA women runners were Allukeyshia Guy of Saint Paul's, Kyra Mobley of Saint Augustine's, Shanise Lewis of Virginia State, Racquel Daley of Saint Augustine's,
Shamika Patton (Frederick, MD, Frederick), Sierra Clayton of Virginia State, Barbara Pierre of Saint Augustine's, Winnie Chepchumba of Livingstone, Sharona Brown of Saint Augustine's and Arnold of Virginia State.
