FINAL RESULTS
(BOWIE, Md.) Freshman JD Tharpe led the Bulldogs men's cross country team to a first place finish in the Bowie State Post-Homecoming Challenge. Thorpe led all runners with a time of 28:13 over the 8,000 Meter course.
Bowie State scored a total of 28 points followed by Virginia Union University in second with 43 points and Washington Adventist University rounded out the field in third with 49 points.
Washington Adventist was paced by Eric Makowski who placed second overall in the men's division, crossing the finish line with a time of 28:43. Bowie State seniors
Joseph Philpot and
Michael Wallace placed third and fourth respectively with times of 30:36 and 31:01. Virginia Union's Hakeem Fields was the first Panther to cross the finish line, placing fifth overall with a time of 31:20.
Bowie State freshman Sonny Hicks came in sixth (31:25) and freshman
Oakley Savage finished the meet in 14th place (36:23).
The Bulldogs will return to competition - Saturday, October 1st at the HBCU Challenge in Cary, NC.
