ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Senior
Sonny Hicks and freshman
Lamar Opher were two of Bowie State's top men's finishers at the Navy Invitational indoor meet at the Wesley Brown Fieldhouse Saturday (12/6).
FULL RESULTS Hicks placed third overall in the 800 meter run, finishing with a time of 1:55.81 while Opher finished 9th in the 200 meter dash, crossing the finish line with a time of 22.86. Sophomore Jarius Coates and freshman
Maurice Rucker placed 7th and 8th respectively in the triple jump. Coates recorded a mark of 13.29m and Rucker had a jump of 12.90m.
The Bowie State 4x400 meter relay "A" team recorded a time of 3:28.80 and finished in 9th place.
Bulldogs junior
Kadeem Bailey placed 11th overall in the shot put with a throw of 11.25m. Bailey also competed in the long jump and came away with a 23rd place finish with a jump of 5.62m.
Freshman
Ryan Washington was the only Bowie State participant in the 5000 meter run, finishing in 16th place. Washington was also a participant in the 1500 meter run, finishing 23rd with a time of 4:39.29.
Sophomore
Vernon Swanson and junior Cullen Mosley finished 22nd in their respective events. Swanson clocked in with a time of 2:06.19 in the men's 800 meter run and Mosley crossed the finish line 4:33.23 in the 1500 meter run.
Junior
James McCarter finished in 23rd place in the 200 meter dash, crossing the finish line with a time of 25.30.
Sophomore
Troy Jones recorded a time of 4:45.53 in the 1500 meter run and a 25th place finish.
The Bulldogs will break for final exams and Christmas before returning to competition on Saturday (January 10th) at the George Mason University Father Diamond Invitational.
