ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Bowie State University cross country teams competed in the U.S. Naval Academy Invitational on Saturday (9/15) morning with the men placing 4th while the women placed 6th overall.

Bowie State's women were led by junior
Cionne Gourrier (70th – 28:33.72) followed by fellow junior
Zuwena Johnson (72nd – 29:35.82). The sophomore trio of
Telicia Farmer (73rd – 30:43.13),
Abigail Hunt (74th – 32:26.43) and
Makayla Peterson (75th – 32:26.70) rounded out Bowie State's top five finishers. Sophomore
Kaylia Brown (76th – 35:22.43) and senior
Krystal Simpson (77th – 37:16.00) completed the women's competitors.
Host Navy finished first overall with 18 points, followed by Maryland (73 points) in second and Towson (84 points) was third overall. UMBC finished in 4th place (94 points) while Loyola (Md.) was 5th (95 points).
In the men's division, freshman Yeabsera Teferra finished first overall (31st place) for the Bulldogs with a time of 31:24.37). Junior
Markese Miller (32nd place) was the second BSU runner to cross the finish line in 32:57.53 and sophomore
Ikpefua Olumese placed 34th overall with a time of 34:10.06. Junior
Kevin Glasper finished 35th overall (37:17.39) while sophomore
Juantre Rush rounded out Bowie State's competitors in 36th place and a time of 39:30.97.
Bowie State next date of competition is Wednesday (September 26th) hosting the BSU Classic at Jericho Park.
