WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Bowie State women's track and field team participated in the CIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at JDL Fast Track on Monday and finished 7th out of the ten participating teams. Fayetteville State claimed the women's crown followed by Saint Augustine's in second and Virginia State was third.
Sophomore
Kayla Little placed third in 60m for Bowie State with a time of 7.72 and claimed ninth in the 200m in 25.63. Junior
Alexa Stewart was timed at 26.67 in the same event placing 22nd overall.
In the 400m race, junior
Kaylia Brown finished 14th in 1:03.13 while fellow junior
Abigail Hunt managed 16th with a time of 1:04.18. Brown (2:40.02) and Hunt (2:53.92) placed 14th and 15th in the 800m, respectively.
Junior
Telicia Farmer was impressive in the one mile run after capturing second place in 6:27.29. Farmer also participated in 3km and finished 13th with 12:50.77. Freshman
Mykayla Wall placed 13th in 60m Hurdles with 9.67 time.
In the 4x400m Relay, which included (Hunt, Brown, Lawson and Jones) Bowie State claimed 10th in 4:20.85.
Junior
Soljala Jones finished sixth in High Jump with 1.48m score while also placing 11th in Long Jump with the score of 5.09m. The third-year jumper was included in the Triple Jump and managed 11th with 10.88m.
Elsewhere on the track, sophomore
Lorinda Bangura claimed second in Shot Put and scored 10.62m while senior
Jordan McDonald captured 10th with 10.70 score.
