BOWIE, Md. – Road trips to New York City and the Virgin Islands, along with matchups against foes in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. highlight the nonconference portion of the Bowie State University men's basketball schedule unveiled today by 12th year head coach Darryl Brooks.
The Bulldogs have a 28-game, home-and-home schedule Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) schedule this season which culminates with the CIAA Tournament held in Baltimore, Md. Feb. 22-26 at the Royal Farms Arena.
Bowie State will open the 2021-22 campaign in the Shepherd Tip Off on Nov. 12-13 against Mercyhurst and Shepherd also known as a conference challenge between the CIAA and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Fayetteville State joins BSU from the CIAA conference in the tournament.
The Bulldogs will host Indiana (PA) for their home opener on No. 19, and then hit the road to face Wilmington (DE) on Nov. 20 and Dominican (Nov. 23) for the 2021 Harlem Renaissance Classic at the Barclays Center in New York City.
BSU will close out the opening month of the regular season with a home game against Augusta (Nov. 28). To start the month of December, the Bulldogs will travel to Washington, D.C. to tangle with the University of District of Columbia (Dec. 4) before taking a road trip to Kutztown (Dec. 8), followed by another home tilt - this time with Shippensburg on Dec. 12.
Bowie State will begin cross division play and a three-game road skid on Dec. 14 at Johnson C. Smith, Livingstone (Dec. 16) and Winston-Salem State (Dec. 20).
New Year's Eve, the Bulldogs will spend time in the Virgin Islands where they will face Bloomfield (Dec. 31) and Fisk (Jan. 1). Following their trip to the islands, BSU will remain on the road for a non-conference contest at West Liberty (Jan. 3) – which will close out the non-conference games for the regular season portion of the schedule for Bowie State.
BSU will resume CIAA cross division play, with road trips to Raleigh, N.C. to face Saint Augustine's (Jan. 6), followed by a trip to Orangeburg, S.C. for a gathering with Claflin and a visit to Fayetteville, N.C. to square off with Fayetteville State on Jan. 10.
The Bulldogs will return home to A.C. Jordan Arena on Jan. 15 against Lincoln (PA) and Virginia Union (Jan. 19) to begin CIAA Northern Division play.
Bowie State will hop back on the road to face Shaw (Raleigh, NC) on Jan. 22 and Elizabeth City State (Jan. 29) but in between those two games, the Bulldogs will host Virginia State on Jan. 26.
Bowie State will start the month of February off on the road when BSU visits Lincoln (PA) on Feb. 5 and Virginia Union (Feb. 9).
The final three regular season contests will feature a home game against the Bears of Shaw on Feb. 12, a trip to Petersburg, Va., to tangle with the Trojans. The season finale and home finale will be against the Vikings of ECSU on Feb. 19.
