BOWIE, Md. – Freshman standout Destiny Lewis recorded her first career top-3 finish at the Bowie State XC Classic Tuesday afternoon at Jericho Park. Saint Augustine's, Lincoln (PA) and Northern Virginia accompanied the Bulldogs in the meet.
Lewis finished third overall in the women's 5K race with a time of 21:35.80, which is a new personal best for the Huntingtown, Md., native. Freshman Catherin Enwereji (Sickler, NJ) crossed the finish line with a time of 23:41.70 for ninth overall while freshman Kyera Spriggs (Fort Washington, MD) placed 19th (29:54.10).
Saint Augustine's won the women's 5k race with a total of 24 points led by Joyce Jepleting who finished first individually (21:06.70) – the Lady Falcons had three runners finish top-5 while Lincoln (PA) finished second with 32 total points.
Bowie State will return to action at the Roanoke XC Invitational in Salem, Va. on Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.
