Bowie State XC to Open 2022 Season at Dutchmen Invitational

BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State men's and women's cross-country will open 2022 competition at the 49th Annual Dutchmen Invitational Saturday, Sept. 10 hosted by Lebanon Valley College at Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon.

The meet will be the 11th year the men's and women's races will be held at Union Canal Tunnel Park.

There will be four races on Saturday (9/10) starting at 9 a.m. with the high school girls 5K race. There are 19 teams expected to compete with 186 total entries in the race. The college races will start at 10:15 a.m. with the running of the women's 5K. There are 34 women's teams scheduled to compete with 241 entries. The men's 8K will be run at 11 a.m. and serve as the final race of the day. A total of 264 runners entered spread across 32 teams.

The Bulldogs return five runners from last season including CIAA Male Athlete of the Year in junior Eric Thomas-Talley (Richmond, VA) while the women's side returns three runners from the 2021 season and welcome three newcomers. The Bulldog men's and women's cross country programs are led by I-shakeema Swain who enters her first season as the assistant cross country/track and field coach.
