BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State men's and women's cross country programs will head to Salem, Va., on Thursday, Oct. 26 to compete in the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championships at Green Hill Park. 

The Bulldogs had a week to prepare to the championships as their regular season finale concluded on Oct. 13 at the Roanoke Invitational which was also held at Green Hill Park. On the men's side, BSU finished 17th overall led by Season Montague who placed 82nd overall (28:58.1) while on the women's side, the Bulldogs finished 12th as a team led by Makayla Hill who tabbed a time of 25L57.4 for 53rd overall. Last season, Bowie State women's cross country finished ninth overall with a total of 205 points led by Destiny Lewis who placed 19th with a finishing time of 21:12.4. As for the Bulldog men, BSU finished sixth overall (124 points) led by Eric Thomas-Talley who finished fifth amongst 72 total runners and was named All-CIAA.

Fayetteville State claimed the conference championships on both the men's and women's side in 2022.

Women's 5,000-Meter Championship Race

11:35 a.m. - Women's competitors called to the start line (Approximately 20 minutes to start)
11:40 a.m. - National Anthem
11:45 a.m. - Begin clerking procedure
11:50 a.m. - Second call to the start line
11:55 a.m. - Start line cleared of all non-competitors (5 minutes to start)
11:57 a.m. - Runners at the start line for instructions
12:00 p.m. - Start of Women's 5,000-meter championship race

Men's 8,000-Meter Championship Race

12:25 p.m. - Men's competitors called to the start line (Approximately 20 minutes to start)
12:30 p.m. - Begin clerking procedure
12:35 p.m. - Second call to the start line
12:40 p.m. - Start line cleared of all non- competitors (5 minutes to start)
12:42 p.m. - Runners at the start line for instructions
12:45 p.m. - Start of Men's 8,000-meter championship race
