BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State men's and women's indoor track and field teams are set to compete in the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) Championships this weekend, as both the men and women are looking for its first conference indoor title in program history.

BSU is culminating a season that had several personal-bests on both the men's and women's side. Notable highlights this season came from Eric Thomas-Talley in the 3000m race in which he held a conference best this season with a time of 9:20.96 (VCU Rams Invitational) and the mile run (4:48.07) at the Seahawk Shootout in which was a third conference best. Joshua Carter recorded a conference best this season in the pole vault (3.95m) at the Cardinal Track & Field Classic.

Bowie State's 4x400m relay team made up of Catherine Enwereji, Agi Mboob, Destiny Lewis and Aliyah Hopper punched in a top-10 best amongst the CIAA at 4:19.09 (Cardinal Track & Field Classic).

Last season, the Bowie State men's team finished third overall in the CIAA Championships highlighted by Carter winning the pole vault crown (3.45m) in route of the Bulldogs eight top-five finishes. The Bulldogs women finished ninth overall. Fayetteville State women and Virginia State men claimed the CIAA titles in 2021-22.

Championship events will begin on Sunday, Feb. 12 with the men's heptathlon 60m dash at 10:30 a.m., running events will take place at 1:45 p.m. beginning with the men's mile run. For a complete championship schedule, please visit theciaa.com or click HERE.
