CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Bowie State's
Breanna Reid and
Dareon Faircloth have been named to the Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week list, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Reid, a freshman from Brooklyn, N.Y., shined in her collegiate debut at the Fastrack Season Opener. Competing in her home state, she broke the Bowie State school record in the weight throw with a mark of 14.32 meters to finish second. She also placed in the top 20 in the women's shot put, throwing 9.75 meters and standing out as one of only four freshmen to do so.
Faircloth, no stranger to weekly accolades, opened his sophomore campaign in dominant fashion. He posted top-two finishes in both of his events, setting a Bowie State record in the men's 60-meter dash with a winning time of 6.74. The Chesapeake, Va., native added a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking 21.89.
The Bulldogs will break for the holidays before returning to action in the new year at the VCU Rams Invitational on Friday, Jan. 9, in Virginia Beach, Va.
