BOWIE, Md. -The Bowie State track and field team is on the road to Norfolk, Va., to compete in the Norfolk State Invitational at the William "Dick" Price Stadium on Saturday, Apr. 15. This will be the fourth straight meet for the Bulldogs who began the 2023 outdoor campaign back on Mar. 25 at the Dan Stimson Memorial Invitational.

Field events will start with the women's and men's hammer throw at 9:30 a.m. The women's and men's steeplechase will begin the track events at 10 a.m.

Bowie State track and field was highlighted by freshman
Yassine Kamara who was the lone winner on either side (men or women), taking first place in the discus with a throwing mark of 39.40m at the Bison Classic hosted by by both Gallaudet and Howard. Kamara also placed third in the shot put (11.16m) and for her performance she was named this week's Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday. Out of the 19 events scored, the Bulldogs combined for 28 points for sixth place overall as a team.
The Bulldog men finished fifth out of 10 team rankings at the Bison Classic. Bowie State scored 26 total points in team rankings while in the category for combined team scores (38 events scored), BSU finished with 54 points (6th place). Sophomore
Creedence Jackson had a third place finish in the pole vault with a jumping mark of 2.39m while junior
Movado Gray tabbed third in the discus (38.52m).
