CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Bowie State track and field senior and reigning CIAA champion (discus) Yassine Kamara has been named the Central Intercolleigate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Kamara threw a personal best in the women shot put with a mark 13.01m at the VMI Invitational last weekend for a second place finish overall. The Waldorf, Md., native is currently No. 1 on the CIAA performance list in the event. The Bulldogs will compete in the Liberty Open this weekend in Lynchburg, Va. at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
