BOWIE, MD—The Bowie State men's basketball team looks to get back in the win column for Staff Appreciation Night in a Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) matchup against Virginia Union University on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m. inside of A.C. Jordan Arena. This will be the nightcap game of a doubleheader featuring the women's game beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The doubleheader will be streamed live on the Bulldog Sports Network.

• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags measuring 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap
• All other bags will not be permitted. A list of prohibited bags includes but is not limited to purses, backpacks, drawstring bags that are not clear, briefcases, coolers, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases, and diaper bags. Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized items to their vehicles. Bowie State University cannot safeguard items that are not permitted into the stadium.

• The Panthers have won four of the last five meetings against the Bulldogs entering Wednesday's matchup.

Scouting Bowie State
Bowie State (9-9, 1-5 CIAA, 0-1 North) is coming off a week where they defeated Division I competitor Howard University but fell in CIAA play against Lincoln (PA) University (PA). So far this season, BSU is a team known for playing in the passing lanes and protecting the paint. The Bulldogs are ranked second in the CIAA in blocks per game (4.4) while being ranked fourth in steals per game (9.6). BSU also shares the ball well, as they are ranked fourth in the conference in assists per game (14.1). Bowie State's leading scoring and rebounder is Amare Wimbush, who averages 10.9 ppg and 5.8 rebounds. Elijah Davis' 4.4 assists per game is ranked fourth in the CIAA. Davis also is ranked second in the conference in steals per game (2.6).
Last Time Out for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs dropped their last matchup against the Lions of Lincoln (PA) University, 64-50 inside Bobby Morgan Arena. Joseph Allen got the starting nod for Bowie State and shined in the role notching a double-double tallying 14 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Morrisey also scored in double-digits tallying 12 points and shooting 2-3 from behind the arc. Davis orchestrated the offense, leading the team with seven assists. BSU scored over half of their points from inside the paint scoring 30 down low. The Bulldogs only received eight points from the bench as Wimbush scored six points in 11 minutes of play.
Scouting Virginia Union
Virginia Union (7-9, 1-3 CIAA, 0-1 North) is looking to get back into the win column against Bowie State as they are currently on a two-game losing streak. The Panthers are one of the best defenses in the CIAA conference, holding opponents to 70.2 ppg, ranked third in the conference. VUU also ranked fifth in opponent field goal percentage (42.1%) while being ranked third in steals per game (9.7). Virginia Union is led by Tahj Harding who averages 15.8 ppg, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. DJ Mitchel is second on the team in scoring averaging 10.9 ppg.
Last Time Out for the Panthers
The Panthers are coming off a tough loss against the Trojans, 78-74, inside of VSU Multipurpose Center in Petersburg, Va. Mitchell filled up the state sheet leading the team in scoring with 21 points while getting two steals. Jonathan King also made an impact scoring 19 points while hauling in seven rebounds and three steals. VUU scored 44 points inside the paint while holding VSU to 30 points down low. Virginia Union also received a boost from the bench as the second unit scored 28 points.
