Meet: Marlin Invitational

BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State men's and women's track and field teams will be competing this weekend at the Marlin Invitational in Virginia Beach, Va., on Friday Jan. 31 hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

The Bulldogs are heading to Virginia Beach from a good outing in Philadelphia last week at the Widener Invitational. Yassine Kamara earned her second CIAA weekly honor by coming in first place with a remarkable throw of 13.56m, a mark that's been very consistent for her during this indoor season. Marlin Newsome, Jr. showcased his speed by winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.90 and a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a blistering time of 21.62 which is top 30 in the nation for Division II.

Bowie State will compete in their final regular season meet, traveling to Winston-Salem, N.C., for the CIAA Championship on Sunday, Feb. 16, and Monday, Feb. 17, at JDL Fast Track.
