Results
The Top Dog: Yassine Kamara of the Bowie State women's track and field team led the Bulldogs' impressive performance at the Maryland Invitational, held from Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 at Kehoe Track and Field Complex. Kamara took first place in both the discus (48.35m) and shot put (14.39m), picking up where she left off from the indoor season. As a team, BSU achieved a total of 37 top-10 finishes across various events.
Women's Track & Field
Sprints
- Mylah Faulk earned 10th place in the women's 400m with a time of 59.66.
Jumps
- Anijah Medley (5.54m) and Zaniya Gavins (4.62m) placed third and sixth, respectively, in the women's long jump, setting new HBCU records.
- The pair also competed in the women's triple jump, claiming second (Medley, 10.82m) and fourth (Gavins, 10.33m) place.
Throws
- In addition to Kamara's stellar performance, Na'Shae Early and Dasani Robinson placed in the top 10 in the women's discus, with throws of 35.18m and 27.85m, respectively.
- Jazmyne McGirt secured a fifth-place finish in the women's shot put with a throw of 11.47m, just behind Kamara's mark.
- Early and Belvia Ann Yangue set personal records and placed in the top 10 in the women's hammer throw, with marks of 35.97m and 39.85m, respectively.
- McGirt and Mikel Lewis both set personal records and ranked in the HBCU's top 30 for the women's javelin throw, with throws of 28.78m (second place) and 26.40m (third place).
Men's Track & Field
Sprints
- Benick Akeh won the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 55.44, a new HBCU top-21 record.
- Three Bulldogs finished in the top 10 in the men's 100m dash: Jaiden Jarrett (10.77), Dareon Faircloth (11.03), and Robert Silinzy (11.43).
- Aaron Little, Jr. placed third in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 15.41.
- Jarrett and Faircloth both reached the top 10 in the men's 200m dash with times of 22.12 and 22.40, respectively.
- Dominic Boston (49.88) and Caleb Rose (52.25) placed in the top 10 in the men's 400m.
- The Bulldogs' 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams both took third place with times of 42.62 and 3:19.39, respectively.
Jumps
- Jaieri Barber won the men's high jump with a height of 1.75m.
- Robert Silinzy (6.91m) and Ceque Stevens (6.62m) placed third and fourth in the men's long jump.
- Stevens also captured third place in the men's triple jump with a mark of 12.92m.
Throws
- Jaeden Warner placed fourth in the men's discus with a throw of 45.02m, setting a new HBCU top-10 mark, while Leandre Lewis placed seventh with a throw of 42.22m.
- Lewis finished sixth in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 42.87m.
- Three Bulldogs finished in the top 10 in the men's shot put: Movado Gray (14.68m), Warner (14.47m), and Isam Banajah (12.48m), all achieving new HBCU top-55 marks.
