NEW ORLEANS, LA. --- Two Bowie State track and field student-athletes, Yassine Kamara and Lorenzo Pelham, have earned NCAA Outdoor All-Region honors, as announced Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Kamara, the 2025 CIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, carried her momentum into the outdoor season, leading the CIAA in both shot put and discus. Nationally, she ranks 14th in Division II for shot put and sixth for discus. The Hyattsville, Md., native opened strong at the Maryland Invitational, winning both events with throws of 14.39m (shot put) and 48.35m (discus). At the Towson Twilight Meet, she took first in discus (43.32m) and second in shot put (14.87m). She followed with two runner-up finishes at the Oscar Moore Invitational. Kamara capped off her regular season with personal bests at the Morgan State Legacy Invitational, winning the shot put (14.76m) and discus (50.46m). At the CIAA Outdoor Championships, she struck gold in the discus (50.16m) and earned silver in the shot put (13.09m). Additionally, her dominating performances throughout the season earned her multiple CIAA Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Pelham had a competitive outdoor season, claiming first place in the men's 110m hurdles at three meets. The Waldorf, Md., native opened with a winning time of 14.43 seconds at the Towson Twilight Meet, followed by another victory at the Morgan State Legacy Invitational with a time of 14.48 seconds. He wrapped up the season with a gold medal at the CIAA Outdoor Championships, posting an impressive 14.23 seconds. Pelham also ranked among the top 35 in Division II for the men's 110m hurdles and was a key contributor to Bowie State's 4x100m relay team, which placed in the top five at several meets throughout the season.
