SANFORD, N.C. — The Bowie State golf team competed at the CIAA Southern Tournament, hosted at Quail Ridge Country Club, finishing eighth overall with a +144 team score over three rounds.
The Bulldogs posted team scores of 234, 244, and 246 during the 54-hole event. BSU opened the tournament with a 234 in the first round, followed by a 244 in the second round before closing with a 246 in the final round.
Peter Tumusiime led the Bulldogs, finishing tied for 20th with rounds of 73, 81, and 80 for a 234 (+18) total.
Cruz Medrano followed with rounds of 79, 80, and 85 to finish at 244 (+28).
Jordan Brown recorded rounds of 85, 84, and 80 for a 249 (+33) total, while
Jonathan Fletcher and
Zachery Alford carded rounds of 90, 100, 97, and 97, 95, 96, finishing with 287 (+71) and 288 (+72), respectively.
On the women's side,
Whitley Shields represented Bowie State and finished 62nd overall with rounds of 102, 102, and 108 for a 312 (+96) tournament score.
