NORFOLK, VA — The Bowie State men's and women's track and field teams posted a series of strong performances at the NSU Invitational, combining for multiple top-10 finishes and personal-best marks in a competitive meet.
Sprints / Relays
Dareon Faircloth led the men's sprint group with a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking a personal-best 20.95, while also placing third in the 100 meters (10.40). Teammates Marlin Newsome Jr. (sixth, 10.47) and
Jaiden Jarrett (10th, 10.62) added top-10 finishes in the 100.
On the women's side,
Sidney Richardson recorded a 10th-place finish in the 100 meters with a personal-best 12.21.
In relay action, the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Jarrett, Faircloth,
Kojo Cunningham and Newsome Jr. placed fourth (41.95), while the 4x400-meter relay squad of Cunningham,
Chase Pankey,
Tavon Williams and
Dominic Boston also finished fourth in 3:31.26.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of
Kaniyah Ervin,
Emetem Bezezuh,
Anijah Medley and
Kesare Bakare highlighted the day with a runner-up finish in 4:00.60, while the 4x100-meter relay team placed sixth (49.05).
Hurdles / Distance
Tavon Williams turned in a strong performance in the men's 110-meter hurdles, finishing fourth with a personal-best time of 15.19. On the women's side,
Emetem Bezezuh placed seventh in the 800 meters, clocking a personal-best 2:22.89.
Jumps
Princewil Osahon led the men in the long jump with a 10th-place finish and a personal-best leap of 6.57 meters, while
Anijah Medley paced the women with a seventh-place mark in the long jump (5.06m).
Rebecca Bogy added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump (11.39m) and placed 10th in the long jump (4.98m), while Medley also secured sixth in the triple jump (10.96m).
Throws
Jaeden Warner led the men's throws with a third-place finish in the shot put (15.42m) and added a sixth-place mark in the discus (43.89m).
Brandon Freeman (seventh, 43.45m) also placed in the top 10 in the discus, while
Isam Banajah recorded a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw (43.25m) and
Parker McHeard placed eighth (36.28m).
On the women's side,
Jazmyne McGirt earned a runner-up finish in the shot put (12.22m), followed by
Tatiyana Black in third (11.73m). Black also added a third-place finish in the discus (38.41m) and hammer (41.37m).
Breanna Reid placed fourth in the discus (38.32m) and fifth in the hammer (40.20m), while Imani White recorded eighth in the discus (33.68m) and 10th in the shot put (9.97m).

The Bulldogs will return to action the following week, traveling to Washington, D.C., to compete in the Bison Classic hosted by Gallaudet University on Saturday, Apr. 11.
