(MIDLOTHIAN, Va.) The Bowie State University bowling team had a very strong showing over the weekend (11/5-7) at the CIAA Northern Division event hosted by St. Paul's College.
The Lady Bulldogs recorded an outstanding 14-1 overall record, finishing first, which included a 4-1 record in Baker match play.
On Friday, BSU's Lady Bulldogs opened total pinfall action with an 813-641 victory over Virginia Union and followed that with an 835-674 win over Virginia State. Bowie State had no trouble with host St. Paul's in their third match of the day, rolling to an easy 964-719 victory. The Lady Bulldogs closed out day one with back-to-back wins against Chowan (721-647) and Lincoln University of Pennsylvania (746-609)
The defending CIAA Champions of Bowie State repeated Friday's (11/5) sweep with a 5-0 sweep again on Saturday. BSU edged Elizabeth City State (787-768), cruised to an 829-655 victory over Virginia Union and defeated Virginia State 886-758. BSU wrapped up day two by defeating St. Paul's College (846-702) and Chowan (761-522) to remain unblemished at 10-0 through two days of competition.
In Sunday's (11/7) Baker's Match Play, Bowie State disposed of Lincoln University (683-529), squeaked by Elizabeth City State (670-667), downed Virginia Union (600-513) and beat Virginia State (691-527). Bowie State's only setback of the weekend came in the final match of the weekend event, falling to St. Paul's by the score 529-521.

Verra Diggs (Fort Washington, MD, Oxon Hill, Hampton Univ.) led the Bowie State Lady Bulldogs with a high-game of 225. Diggs also recorded a score of 212 on day two (Game 4).

Rebecca Frusciante (Mahopac, NY, Mahopac) rolled a high-game of 204 and fellow senior
Dominique Carroll (Bowie, MD, Bowie) topped out at 199.
The Lady Bulldogs (18-8) will return to action Friday, Saturday and Sunday (11/19-21), when they head to Millsboro, Delaware to participate in the Hawk Classic hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
