Bowie State Bowling Ready for CIAA Bowling Championships

Bankston, Davis, Lightfoot and Scott Receive Conference Awards

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Bowie State University will be one of eight teams vying for the conference title in the CIAA Women's Bowling Championships at the AMF Western Branch Lanes this weekend beginning Friday, March 20, 2015.

Preliminary team matches begin at 10:50 a.m. on Friday, and preliminary Baker matches start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 21. The total pin count in the preliminary rounds will determine the seeding for the double elimination Baker tournament for the league title. Baker bracket play begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday and continues at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 22.
 
Prior to the action on the lanes, the Lady Bulldogs received their Northern Division trophy after compiling a 35-1 division record and 45-1 conference record. Bowie State also received several individual awards Sierra Davis was selected Rookie of the Year, Shayla Lightfoot – Player of the Year and Ken Scott Coach of the Year. The Lady Bulldogs also received the CIAA's Academic Award for the highest team GPA (3.23). The All-CIAA Team was also announced and Bowie State's Lightfoot, Davis and Ambrianna Bankston were among the teams' honorees.
