LAUREL, Md. - The Bowie State women's bowling program hosted the CIAA Event I over the weekend (11/9-11) at the AMF Laurel Lanes and ended the weekend with a 10-2 record against all Northern Division opponents.

In Friday's team match play, the Bulldogs were undefeated, defeating Chowan (818-618), tied Virginia State (719-719) and got the win via a tiebreaker (107-59), Virginia Union (728-686), and Elizabeth City State (817-534).

The Bulldogs finished Saturday's Traditional Scoring with a 4-0 record after defeating Elizabeth City State (824-576), Virginia Union (806-569), Virginia State (862-711) and Chowan (734-614).

Bowie State recorded a 2-2 record in Sunday's Baker System Scoring, earning wins against Chowan (823-600) and Elizabeth City State (825-539) in the first and last match of the day. Unfortunately, sandwiched between those victories were setbacks to Virginia State (882-725) and Virginia Union (732-729).

Cayla Snowden was Bowie State top bowler over the three-day event, averaging a 175.22 in nine games. She bowled three games above 180 with the best roll of a 201 and had a total pin count of 1,577.
Diamond Carter was the teams' second leading roller, wrapping up CIAA Event I with a 170.22 average that included a team best 227 in game nine and a total pin count of 1,532.
Chantel Farlow accounted for 1,460 pins in nine games and an average of 162.22 while
Bre'Ana Jones recorded a total pin count of 1,312 that averaged out to 164.00 and a high-game of 180.
Taylor Harris rounded out the Bowie State competitors, competing in six games with an average of 157.33.

Of the five Northern Division conference teams, Bowie State finished in 1st place overall followed by Virginia Union in 2nd place (9-3), Virginia State placed 3rd (7-5), Chowan was in 4th place (4-8) and Elizabeth City State finished in 5th place.

Bowie State will be idle until the New Year when the Bulldogs return to the lanes in its own Fred and Edwina Underwood Classic – January 25th through January 27th at the AMF Laurel Lanes.
