Inaya Jones (Baltimore, Md.) was named Pitcher of the Week, senior
Jacqueline Pickering (Bowie, Md.) was named Offensive Player of the Week, junior
Morgan Powell (Upper Marlboro, Md.) was named Defensive Player of the Week and Head Coach
Tonja Braxton was voted Coach of the Week.
Jones pitched game two of Bowie State's doubleheader at Elizabeth City State, going five innings, allowing three hits, one run and struck out five in the Bulldogs 20-1 victory. Pickering accounted for five hits in six at bats which included a double and her first home run of the season and added a team-high seven RBI in Bowie State's sweep of Elizabeth City State. Powell tallied 13 putouts and had a 1.000 fielding percentage to help Bowie State take down the Vikings of Elizabeth City State. After being idle for a week, Coach Braxton and the Bulldogs began division play on a high note, cruising to a 2-0 week with a doubleheader road wins at Elizabeth City State by scores of 14-1 and 20-1.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday (3/30) at Winston-Salem State University for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Bowie State's record stands at 7-10 overall, 3-4 in CIAA play and 2-0 in the Northern Division.
