SALISBURY, N.C. – The Bowie State University women's bowling team placed third overall at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up held Friday, Feb. 7 through Sunday, Feb. 9.
The Bulldogs registered 11,097 total pins, 7,949 team match pins and 3,148 Baker pins for a .67 winning percentage (8-4 overall). Sophomore
Cayla Snowden (Parkville, Md.) led the way for Bowie State with an average of 184.60 per game that included a high game of 207 during match 10 which gave her the weekend's highest overall game average.

Kamryn Sloan (Washington, D.C.) followed Snowden with a bowling average of 162.33, highlighted by a 191 game during match six while freshman
Olivia Watts (Fort Washington, Md.) averaged 162.00 over eight matches. Senior
Bre'Ana Jones (Odenton, Md.) ranked fourth on the team with an average of 154.60 over five matches. Freshman
Erin Pearson (Bryans Road, Md.) participated in six matches and averaged 150.33. Sophomore
Taylor Harris (Stoughton, Mass.) along with junior
Tori Allen (Fort Washington, Md.) averaged 149.80 and 141.75 respectively for the Bulldogs, while sophomore
Paris Anthony (Waldorf, Md.) rounded at BSU's participants with an average of 140.33.
On day one, Bowie State recorded a 3-1 record, earning wins over Johnson C. Smith (813-670), Shaw (825-732) and Livingstone (698-695). The Bulldogs only setback on opening day came against Fayetteville State by a final pin count of 827-801.
The Bulldogs went 3-1 on day two of competition, defeating Livingstone (843-618), Shaw (772-662) and Johnson C. Smith (743-724). However, Bowie State fell short to Fayetteville State (858-838) to close out Saturday's play.
Bowie State began Sunday's (2/9) Baker System Match Play with victories over Shaw (784-624) and Livingstone (860-731). However, the Bulldogs dropped an 885-785 decision to Southern Division leader Fayetteville State and lost its final match of the weekend to Johnson C. Smith (763-721).
Fayetteville State placed first overall of the 11 competing teams with a total pin count of 13,031 (15-0 record) followed by Virginia State in second with a total pin count of 10, 906 (9-3 record). Johnson C. Smith finished fourth with 10,244 total pins (8-7 record) followed by Virginia Union (9,763 total pins / 6-6 record), Shaw (10, 279 total pins / 7-8 record) and Livingstone (9,451 total pins / 4-11 record). Elizabeth City State placed 10th overall with 8,122 total pins (2-10 record) and Chowan finished 11th overall with 8,265 total pins (1-11 record).
Next up, the Bulldogs will compete in the James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State University (February 14-16) at the AMF Towson Lanes in Towson, Md.
