PASADENA, Md. – The Bowie State women's bowling team went 7-1 overall at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event I this weekend at the AMF Southdale Lanes for their season opener.
The hosts Bulldogs won all three Baker matches on Sunday and only fell to Virginia State (688-695) on Saturday in traditional play.
Senior
Cayla Snowden (Baltimore, MD) posted the highest average for the North at 171.57, while collectively the Bulldogs averaged 181.1 individually and 724.4 as a unit with 3,622 total pins in the Baker round.
Additionally, junior
Olivia Watts (Fort Washington, MD) averaged 168.43 in seven games while graduate senior
Takara Wigfall (Forestville, MD) posted 161.60 through five games.
Bowie State tacked on a total of 9,796 pins, including 6,174 team total pinfalls. Virginia Union (4-4) and Virginia State (1-7) went two and three, respectively.
The Bulldogs will return to action in 2022 for the CIAA Round-Up in Richmond, Va., Feb. 18-20.
