CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman Saniya Jones of the Bowie State Bulldogs softball team was named this week's Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Food Lion Rookie of the Week announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

The Louisa, Va., native earned her second weekly honor after going 3-for-8 from the plate (.375 batting average) last week to go along with two runs scored and a run batted in for Bowie State. Additionally, Jones delivered six putouts and six assists defensively as the Bulldogs went 2-2 during last week's action highlighted by a sweep against Salem.
