WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Bowie State men's indoor track and field finished seventh overall with a total of 39 points in the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships Monday afternoon at the JDL Fast Track.

Claflin (98) won the men's title, the programs first since joining the CIAA in 2018 and overall first championship in program history. Livingstone (96) and St. Augustine's (93) rounded out the top-3 team finishes on the day.

Notable Highlights

• Joshua Carter grabbed a silver medal in the pole vault after clearing a jump of 3.85m.
• Kareem Kelsick earned fourth in the 60m hurdles, clocking a time of 8.45.
• Eric Thomas-Talley earned a spot on the podium for second overall in the 5000m run, completing the 25-lap race in 16:46.45 while Thaddeus Green finished in the top-10 at ninth overall (19:49.57).
• In the mile run, Bowie State had four runners grab top-12 finishes. Shane Massey placed sixth with a time of 4:46.06, followed by Thomas-Talley (4:51.18), Roosevelt Elivert (5:04.77), Green (5:20.06) for ninth, 11^th and 12^th, respectively.
• The Bulldogs finished fourth in the distance medley at 11:17.72 that featured Thomas-Talley, London Diggs, Caleb Rose and Shane Massey.
• Meanwhile in the 4x400m relay, Massey, Diggs, James Jones and Jordan James combined for a time of 3:29.44 for fifth overall.
• In the triple jump, Ratez McLaurin tabbed 11^th overall with a mark of 12.00m. In the long jump, he posted a mark of 6.65m for eighth place.
• A trio of Ahmad Johnson (13^th), Nasser Ross (14^th) and Isa McDonald (15^th) finished top-15 in the shot put. Johnson threw a mark of 11.19, followed by Ross at 11.05m and McDonald at 10.92.
