Aseyah Alexander was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore
Lindsey George was named the CIAA Pitcher of the Week announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
It is first time for Alexander to be recognized with a weekly honor and first for George in the pitching category, she had won two offensive player of the week accolades previously this season.
Alexander, a native of Silver Spring, Md., averaged a .600 batting clip that included 15 at-bats. Alexander accounted for five runs, nine hits and four RBI for the week.
As for George, the Fayetteville, Ga., native was dominant on Friday, striking out nine Shaw hitters over seven innings of work to help lead the Bowie State Bulldogs over the Lady Bears 10-3 on the road. In addition to her nine strikeouts, George (10-5) went seven innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on five hits and walking four.
