BOWIE, MD --- The Bowie State women's volleyball team was voted eighth out of 13 teams in the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference Preseason Poll announced Monday afternoon by the league office. Atop the preseason poll sits Shaw, Elizabeth City State and Fayetteville State as rankings one through three, respectively.
The 2023 season will mark the second season for head coach
Edric Poitier who has a total of 17 newcomers that are either true freshman and transfers. Bowie State will have two returners, including
Nadira Avery who ranked second on the team in blocks (37) as a freshman and
Charity Harris who led BSU in service aces (36).
The Bulldogs will open the 2023 slate on Friday, Sept. 1 at the Frostburg State Tournament in Frostburg, Md. BSU will take on Pitt Johnstown and Walsh on Friday at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., while on Saturday, the Bulldogs will take on Frostburg State at 11 a.m.
