CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) has announced its weekly award winners for volleyball and Bowie State freshman
Taylor Johnson was named the CIAA Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.
This marks for the third time in three weeks a Bowie State player has been named the Rookie honor, as
Trinity Loundmon was the first honoree on Sept. 18.
The rookie libero recorded a team-high 13 digs, eight kills and two assists in the Bulldogs match against Virginia State last week. Her eight kills was a career high as well as eight points scored. Johnson has had six games with double digits in digs including a career-high 20 against Elizabeth City State on Monday. The Severn, Md., native leads the Bulldogs in total digs with 117 and 11 service aces.Â
Bowie State will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 3 when BSU hosts Notre Dame (MD) in non-conference action inside A.C. Jordan Arena. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
